There’s no more familiar feeling than seeing a model, actress, or random woman at the beach and wondering how she got her stomach so flat. Especially when no matter how many ab exercises you do, you still experience a bulge here and there. It’s only human to wonder how to lose belly fat and get a flat tummy. Which is why I’m dedicating today’s blog to share my favorite hacks that you can do everyday to get closer to a flat stomach.
Important Daily Movement
One of the easiest ways to not have a flat stomach is to live a sedentary life. The less intentional movement you make on a daily basis, the less reason your body has to burn fat and calories. Plus, regular movement helps encourage blood and lymphatic flow. Both of these systems help remove toxins from the body and encourage a healthy metabolism. And guess what? ALL movement counts as movement. Cleaning up bedrooms, vacuuming and sweeping, walking the dog, and loading the dishwasher all contribute to daily movement. The cherry on top is also doing intentional movement like strength training, pilates, power walking, and more.
Movements that contribute to a flatter tummy are virtually anything, as long as you’re engaging the core. When you’re going for a walk, think about hugging your belly button to your spine. When you’re lifting weights or doing yoga, same thing – engage your core! Everything can be turned into ab exercises if you’re dedicated enough.

Eating Habits Are Key
Like all weight loss tips, food is a huge factor. One of the best ways how to lose belly fat is with a nutrient-dense diet. Grass-fed meat, wild-caught fish, seasonal produce, and a combination of herbs and spices are the best way to improve your overall physical appearance. When it comes to targeting the stomach, reducing sugar is the best way to help flatten it out.
If you don’t think you consume a lot of sugar, remember that there’s sugar in more than just sweet treats. Coffee creamer, salad dressing, protein powders, and granola bars are known for their sneaky sugar content.
Another way to help tighten your midsection is to consume apple cider vinegar. Never take it like a shot, as it can irritate the esophagus. Instead, I like to take Skinny Gummies. They’re a delicious gluten- and soy-free gummy vitamin packed with apple cider vinegar and belly-flattening antioxidants. All you have to do is enjoy two per day!
Focusing on real, whole foods like the ones listed above is the best way to improve your physical, mental, and even emotional health.
7 Daily Habits for a Flatter Stomach
1. Sit Up Straight
Grandma was right when she would tell you to stop slouching. Sitting upright with your core engaged is a great way to train your abdominals. If you work a desk job, you have close to 8 hours per day to work toward a flat tummy. Remember to relax your shoulders, sit away from the back of your chair, and lengthen through the crown of your head.
2. Drink Enough Water
When we hydrate properly, we encourage healthy digestive function. Proper water intake, especially if it replaces soda and juice, can result in a happier and flatter stomach.
3. Sleep Soundly
You may wonder how sleep has anything to do with a sexy core. When we miss out on critical rest hours, our body is more likely to hold onto fat. A healthy circadian rhythm is the key to overall health – including physical health. Quality sleep is a great way to achieve a strong, flat stomach.
4. Make Everything a Core Exercise
If you really want a flat tummy, you need to turn everything into ab exercises. When you’re focusing on legs in the gym, engage your core muscles. When you’re walking around the house picking up clothes or toys or dishes, engage your core. Constant engagement will increase your core strength and abdominal visibility.
5. Get Your Steps In
Walking is one of the most underrated ways to get in shape. I swear my body changed the most once I started getting 10,000+ steps in per day. It’s such a fun milestone to work toward, and it will absolutely help flatten your stomach.
6. Chew Thoroughly
This sounds silly, but making sure your food is fully chewed will help you digest better. Better digestion equals less bloat, and less bloat equals a flatter stomach. I like to suggest chewing about 15 times before swallowing. Tougher food, like red meat, may require more, and softer foods, like bananas, may require less.
7. Reduce Sugar
Cutting sugar (including alcohol!) out of your diet is the fastest way to see results. Sugar is a guilty pleasure many people gravitate towards because it’s accessible, and addicting. Sugar is consumed in so many ways – coffee drinks, cocktails, chocolate, and more. Reducing the amount of sugar you consume will help you reach your goal of a flat tummy.
